St.Mary's Agriculture Farm
Thottiyankulam - Aruppupkottai

With the guidance and consultation of Dr Devaraj, Professor of Agriculture, soil fertility was verified, and cultivation was planned accordingly, with a focus on rain-fed and short-term yields. The areas between lemon, guava, and coconut plants were ploughed and filled with organic and vermicompost, and plants planted in previous years.

A total of 4 new deep borewells were drilled and fitted by submersible motors with a renewed three-phase Electric connection for sufficient water supply for cultivation. The entire farm and building complex have been cleaned and maintained throughout the year. Around 250 new saplings of mango, papaya, pomegranate, sapota (Mud apple), gooseberry, banana, lemon, and guava have been planted intermittently in the existing farm areas.

Rearing of country chickens and goats is part of the development of an integrated agriculture farm. The existing pond near the borewell has been desilted to augment groundwater. During the rainy season, a substantial amount of water is stored to quench the cattle's thirst. Furthermore, we have a plan to develop an Integrated Agriculture Farm and are projected to plant 2000 varieties of new saplings, including herbal plants.
