Multipurpose Institute for Training and Employment - MITE is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1975 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 1975), S. No 200 of 1987 dated 19-Oct-1987.
MITE promotes a space for employment opportunities by establishing short-term career-oriented Skill Training Centers such as Computer Training Centers and Tailoring Institutes. These Centres are equipped with Computers and Sewing machines, and qualified Instructors are appointed to provide Skill Training. On successful completion of the courses, they are facilitated in finding self and salaried employment opportunities by supporting with Vocational Training Guidance / Technical Consultancy and providing free new Sewing Machines based on their performance and to the most deserving trainees. Training programs are conducted by internal and external experts on Career guidance on innovative features.
MITE is also involved in strengthening the People's Organization, such as Self-Help Groups – SHGs, and promotes the concept of Federations. They are capacitated of forming into Groups and thereby practice monthly savings, Internal lending, and revolving fund management. This has prevented the group members from getting into the traps of the moneylenders charging exorbitant interest. The savings and credit are an innovative system adopted by the group members for their need-based financial requirements and economic sustainability. Through Networking and Linkages, group members receive training in Interface meetings with Government Agencies and Like-minded NGOs. This training focuses on various Skill Development activities and EDPs (Entrepreneur Development Programs), as well as the procedures for availing and integrating with Government schemes.
